Whole Earth for the Whole Farm

Everyone loves convenience. One-stop shopping is always preferred to driving around to many different retails trying to grab all the products you require, especially for animals. Luckily, there is a solution. In fact, it’s a whole solution for your whole farm. Co-op’s WHOLE EARTH® feed line is exactly that — everything you want for your poultry, swine or other livestock on the farm — in a balanced, locally produced feeding program.

Whole Earth feeds are formulated with quality ingredients and are free of animal by-products, antibiotics and other medications. They have everything your animals need in a clean, balanced diet.

Products within the Whole Earth brand line are among the most popular feed products offered by Co-op, a resounding endorsement from livestock growers in Western Canada who want high-quality products they can trust.

Well-Rounded Rations for Poultry, Swine and More

The Whole Earth poultry line features five products: a pre-starter, starter, grower/finisher rations, layer diet and general supplement. The poultry line includes healthy, balanced nutritional rations for animals such as chicken, turkey, and a variety of game birds.

“With those five products, we’re able to simplify the feeding systems for all types of poultry,” said Robbie Schmidt, Retail Manager at Borden Co-op in Saskatchewan.

The poultry line appeals to many for its simplicity. “The supplements and pre-mixes are designed so that farmers and homesteaders can mix with other grains on-farm and still get the protein, vitamin and mineral nutrition to their animals. The line is simplified to be easy to use,” said Schmidt. “They are simple, and they are effective.”

Similarly, Whole Earth has a complete lineup of four swine products — pre-mix, starter, grower/finisher and supplement — as well as a ration for meat rabbits.

High Quality Ingredients for High Quality Feed

Whole Earth feeds are of exceptional quality, all developed and manufactured locally in Western Canada. Co-op owns and operates three feed mills where they produce the entire slate of Whole Earth products. There, they employ professional nutritionists who formulate top-tier feed programs for producers.

“Feeding animals is a lot more technical than most people think. There’s a lot of thought and development that goes into creating products that will meet nutritional goals, specifically because the Whole Earth line does not contain any medications. Other ingredients are incorporated to support the health of the animal without requiring the addition of medication.”

Over the years, Co-op nutritionists have continually refined the amino acid profiles and protein quality to extract more out of the already highly nutritious feed line. The entire poultry offering contains enzymes and gut health modulators to promote better digestion, meaning healthier, happier animals that perform well on the Whole Earth program. Prebiotics, vitamins and organic trace minerals, including selenium, are other high-quality ingredients that afford the animal greater disease resistance during its lifecycle. All Whole Earth products also contain Cel-Max, a yeast culture that supports animal/gut health.

In a world that increasingly prefers locally produced products with clean, understandable ingredients, Whole Earth has a strong fit and has been leading this charge for more than two decades.

Best Locally Made Products

“Co-op has always manufactured their own feed,” said Schmidt. “It’s locally made and locally distributed through Co-ops across Western Canada. It’s clean eating. The medication-free piece has been on customers’ minds for a really long time and we have been serving that demand for a very, very long time. Co-op has definitely been ahead of the curve with Whole Earth this whole time.”

The best part about working with your local Co-op is that they are just as invested in the success of your farm as you are.

“Many of our retail staff use the products on their own farm operations, so we are well-versed and know the positive first-hand benefits of the Whole Earth line. We would not offer a product we weren’t willing to give to our own animals,” said Schmidt.
