As part of their local communities, it’s not unusual to see Co-op team members go above and beyond. In fact, it’s a rule!

The Co-op Fuel Team consists of seasoned industry experts specializing in providing essential services to growers and commercial customers across Western Canada. The team’s shared commitment is to deliver the necessary products and support on time and with consideration for each operation’s unique needs.

Co-op Fuel Team experts

The team ensures prompt deliveries of high-quality fuels, lubricants and propane directly to farm customers. The local outreach enhances accessibility and fosters a strong connection with the agricultural community.

“Shopping with your local Co-op means supporting and dealing with people and neighbours from your local community. When you come into one of our stores or contact us by phone, you get to connect with a person whose main goal is to provide you with exactly what you need,” said Andrew Vancha, Bulk Fuels Manager at Saskatoon Co-op.

Beyond deliveries, Co-op fuel experts provide guidance on storage tank upgrades, tank monitoring, full-service propane system installations and more. This advisor role encompasses the team’s commitment to their customers’ long-term success and safety.

Brady Nelson from P. Nelson Farms Ltd. says the Fuel Team has been an asset to his grain operation for many seasons. “Co-op keeps our tanks from being empty through monitoring, which is convenient. We make a big purchase in the spring and fall when going into seeding and harvest, and Brandon, the manager at our Co-op, is always good at keeping me posted on which direction the oil prices are going to head,” said Nelson.

According to Vancha, Fuel Team members dedicate themselves to providing the best knowledge and advice on the correct products and the best time to buy. Local Co-op Fuel Team members, together with FCL’s Petroleum Advisors, follow the fuel and oil markets closely to advise their customers with industry-leading advice on current market trends.

Co-op offers the largest cardlock network in Western Canada with 24/7 cardlocks with off-road access for high-freight transport vehicles, fast fuelling options and high-quality fuel products. Direct-drop deliveries are also available to farm and commercial customers who require large quantities of fuel for their operations.

Additionally, the Co-op app facilitates quick and efficient mobile ordering of bulk fuel, lubricants and propane with customizable delivery specifications and site notes. At the same time, the Fuel Team assists with navigating various fuel tank and other equipment sizes and requirements to help the customers select the right fit.

Lubricant services

The Co-op Lubricant Advisory System (CLAS) provides tailored recommendations for Co-op Premium Lubricants based on vehicle or equipment make and model. Accessible through mobile or desktop devices, CLAS streamlines the lubricant selection process.

CLAS is a free-to-access, easy-to-use online selection tool available around the clock. It confirms lubricant requirements based on OEM maintenance manuals, provides component fill capacities, oil change intervals and offers additional information through technical and safety data sheets. One of the key considerations in lubricant usage is that properties can change over time, affecting performance levels. Co-op offers an Oil Analysis Program to assess spectrometry, viscosity, water, soot, glycol and fuel content. This proactive approach helps detect abnormalities and avoid extensive damage.

ustomers can also request a Fluid Life kit at their local Co-op. The lubricant samples sent for testing undergo various analyses, and results are returned typically within a business week. This quick turnaround enables timely decision-making based on the test results.

Additionally, Co-ops facilitate bulk lubricant deliveries, ensuring the optimal use of the customers’ time and resources. With over 30 bulk lubricant delivery units serving 80 regions across Western Canada, this program ensures reliable and efficient service.

Propane services

With locations across Western Canada, Co-op’s Fuel Team ensures an unmatched network, supplying and servicing bulk propane requirements for members and businesses. Co-op’s commitment to safety includes full-service installations, compliance advice and maintenance support.

Co-op’s propane team includes gas fitters residing in local communities, ensuring sufficient geographical coverage for every customer. This, in addition to vast supply and distribution networks across every region, ensures that growers receive dependable support during their busiest seasons.

“With the Fuel Team across the Co-op Retailing System and the support of Federated Co-op, you will find a group of people with collective knowledge and experience unmatched in Western Canada. We refine the products you purchase ourselves right here on the Prairies and can provide you with first-hand service and technical expertise on all petroleum products with one phone call,” said Vancha.

Enhancing the efficiency and safety of your operation

Co-op members get access to much more than unmatched product selection and robust services. “As a member of your local Co-op, you are also a part owner and stakeholder in its success, with all the profits staying within your community. Through programs such as Co-op Community Spaces, Co-ops have supported 175 projects with $12.5 million in funding,” said Vancha.
